Being Positive Really Will Make It Happen

Hi everyone,

It's time for another update.
It's not been a great year so far for getting into the gym - not because of injury or any sensible reason - but due to lack of motivation. I know I can achieve a lot, but then I feel dispirited.

Then I realised that being positive is not just hot air. It always occurred to me in the past that "being positive" was just a better way of looking at things - then I realised that:

  • If you think you can't do something you're not going to put a lot of effort in - it would just be a waste,
  • Whereas, if you think you can then you will put the effort in.
  • But if you KNOW you can do something you will put even more effort in to make it happen.

With some of our objectives there's a finish line involved - you either get the new job you wanted or you don't, you win the tennis match or you don't, etc.. With body-building it's not like that. You get out what you put in - if I go solidly for three months I will achieve more than sitting on the sofa, if I go for six months I will achieve more than three months, if I put more effort in, I will get more benefit out.

And so "being positive" WILL just by itself make it happen.

The same is probably true for many other things in life.
